 Buffy Summers*
Also known as the Vampire Slayer, this 17 year old Californian has also participated in Parent-Teacher night, cheerleading and beauty pageants. When she's not primping in front of the mirror, this blond beauty can be found slaying vamps with her flawless technique. The only one who may not be found cheering on her side (with a few timely exceptions) is Spike, whose plans she has managed to foil one too many times in addition to crippling him. Their team-up to defeat Angelus
resulted in Dru's dumping Spike. But, nobely, Spike didn't blame Buffy at all. When he came back
to Sunnydale, the teamed up again (sort of) with Angel. See, Spike had kidnapped Buff's friends so
she didn't kill him ... he was the only one who knew where they were. Buff "violently dislikes" Spike, but he is one of the only
ones who knows exactly what Angel and Buff are going through romantically. Scary, huh?
Angel*
At 242 or so, Angel is the oldest member of the Scooby Gang, but certainly not the wisest. His animosity for Spike goes way back and once he regains his soul the first time, his greatest threat to Spike is his knowledge ... of how Spike thinks. The hatred between the reformed vamp and the cool vamp seems to be long-standing, regardless of their previous alliance and relation. They just don't seem to be happy with each other, especially when Angel doesn't play fair and taunts Spike about Dru's predilection for foreplay. Angel gets a well-deserved
thrashing by both Spike (!) and Buffy. But when Spike returns later without Dru, Angel's back to being "soul-having". Spike blames Angel for Dru's defection and plots to give him leprosy .. at first. Then he just wants to make Dru fall in love with him again. Angel, Buff and Spike sorta team up to get that done. Sorta.
Willow Rosenberg*
Willow is the computer nerd of the group. Although she hardly ever directly interferes with Spike, her techno-smarts
cause her to be a formidable opponent. In addition, her position in the Scooby Gang is an integral one and her ability
to think on her feet has thwarted Spike's plans more than once ("Halloween"). Plus, she now has a werewolf as a boyfriend.
Later, Spike actually kidnaps Willow (and Xander) in order to force her to cast a love spell on Dru. Willow's put into the
awkward position of comforting her lovesick kidnapper. "There, there."
AleXander Harris*
A normal 17-year old boy, Harris thinks about rescuing Buffy and surviving ... when he isn't thinking about sex.
A very confused young man, he can't seem to decide between the women in the Scooby Gang: Buffy, Willow and Cordelia. At one point, he even had Miss Calendar running after him. Xander and Spike have not had much interaction -- which is perhaps good since Xander would continually make stupid comments and Spike would probably eat him for it. Xander and Spike don't interact much, except for a little toss-up that Spike easily wins when he kidnaps the Xan-man and his witchy friend (Will not Cordy).
Xander pretty much remains unconscious for the rest of their interaction (Spike's and Xan's, I mean).
Cordelia Chase*
Cordelia Chase is the most popular girl in the school. Her sarcastic wit hides a loneliness and insecurity that has been
somewhat rectified by her association with the Scooby Gang. Unfortunately, her relationship with Xander has brought all the
best qualities in her and all the worst in him -- making her feel as if she is less important to her than Buffy or Willow
are. Spike terrifies Cordelia and usually leads her to hide in a closet -- where she usually finds solace "roughing" up
Xander. After her break up with Xander, pauperization and move to Los Angeles, Cordelia's only real interaction with
Spike is when he tells her that she looks smashing and she responds with enthuasiasm.
Daniel Oz Osbourne*
Lead guitar in the band "Dingoes Ate My Baby," this sometimes-redhead is also a werewolf, a trait that seems to run in his
family. Dedicated boyfriend to Willow, Oz leaves town after a romantic/violent encounter with another (female) werewolf.
Oz's interaction with Spike is minimal; his most memorable when he drove the van within inches of Spike's body to
keep the latter from the Gem of Amara.
Rupert Giles*
Born in Britain, formally educated at Oxford, informally educated in London, this Watcher dabbled in
the black arts and rrrrock-n-roll when he was a youth. Finally accepting his hereditary role from his father
and grandmother, Giles trained and then moved to Sunnydale, U.S.A. where he has to deal with the incomprehensible
attitude of Yanks and teenagers in particular. His affection for Buffy is clear especially when he is prepared
to face down Spike alone for her sake. Giles is, after the Slayer herself, Spike's most formidable opponent. With his intellect and knowledge, he is usually the one who figures out what Spike is up to and how to stop him.
Jenny Calendar
Also known as Janna Kalendash, this gypsy-raised technopagan
becomes an important person in Giles' life, which Spike uses to his benefit in "Becoming." A clever vamp, Spike tells Dru to use her hypnotic-powers to make Giles believe Dru is Jenny in order to trick him into confessing an important secret. It is a testament to Jenny and Giles' love that it is only through trickery that Angelus and co. could gain that information from Giles.
Joyce Summers
The mother of the present U.S.A.-based Slayer, she is ignorant of her daughter's extracurricular activities. This does not, however, stop her from protecting her from our favourite vamp. Axe in hand, she belted him one on the head. Ever the gracious fangboy, Spike refrains from holding a grudge next time he meets her at her house. They chat some. They get on great. In fact, so great that when a love-lorn Spike returns to Sunnydale he drops by her house and drowns his sorrows in a mug of hot chocolate that she makes him.
the Prague mob
These crouton-headed twits were responsible for Dru's weak and sickened state when we first met her in "School Hard." One trusts that Spike made them pay for their idiocy.
Kendra
This Haitian Slayer is model-worthy but somewhat lacking in the social-skills department. Her closest friend (besides her
Watcher, Mr. Zabuta, and the Scooby Gang) is Mr. Pointy, her stake. She gives Spike a good one-two in "What's My Line", but
he still prefers to fight Buffy. His only other comment re: Kendra was that he was proud that Dru managed to bag a slayer
(i.e. kill Kendra). Not so great.
Faith
After Kendra's death, Faith replaces her as the second Slayer. Evidently, her Watcher is killed and she comes to Sunnydale
to aid the Scooby Gang in fighting demons. As of yet she has no relationship with Spike. Ok, so she turns into a psycho
bitca -- and then falls into a coma as a direct result of Buffy pummeling the life outta her. So, I guess she's not going to
have a relationship with Spike, eh?
Allan Francis Doyle
Doyle is a demon-human hybrid who has visions, helps Angel battling evil, likes to drink and has a crush on Cordy.
Although his past is full of skeletons like something he has to atone for, teaching 3rd-grade, having been a control
freak and having an ex-wife, Doyle is more or less a happy-go-lucky Irishman with a penchant for pubs. Spike, of course,
has no affinity for the Irish and tells Doyle so -- I'm sure Doyle mentally stuck out his tongue for that. They've had
one encounter and it was a tie -- sorta.
